Morphology: Adult: - Patrus subapicalis is most similar to P. apicalis but can be distinguished by P. subapicalis has the mesoventrite without a medial pit, and the median lobe of the aedeagus without needle-like point apex, apex triangular. Females of both species are similar, but the lateral margin of the elytral glabrous region is different, with P. subapicalis has a nearly straight lateral margin that creates a more parallel-sided appearance. The female of P. subapicalis is also similar to P. nanensis but can be distinguished by P. subapicalis has the elytral glabrous region broader than P. nanensis, occupying 10/11 of the elytral width.
