วงศ์ Chydoridae
This is a family of small cladocerans that occur predominantly in the littoral zone of vegetated water and occasionally in the benthic zones. Chydoridae have diverse morphology. Body oval, sub-oval, egg-shaped, enclosed by headshield and carapace. Rostrum well developed, fornices extended to cover the antennules and united with rostrum into a “beak”. Headshield with a variation of the main head pore and literal pores, mostly 2–3 or one or absent of main pores, connected or disconnected. Literal pores are minute or specifically shape, they are an important character to identify the species level. Antennule is covered by rostrum, hidden under rostrum. The antenna is relatively short, biramous, each branch has three segments, endopodite has five setae, and exopodite has three to five setae. Eyes and ocellus present, ocellus well developed sometimes as large as the eye, some larger, many case eye larger than ocellus. The labrum is well developed, a variety of shape and keeled. Five pairs of thoracic limbs. Thoracic limb I of males modified to have copulatory hook and copulatory brush setae in the outer distal lobe of thoracic limb I. Postabdomen is very important to help identify species, with a denticle in dorsal portion, preanal and postanal angles rather defined. Postabdominal claw has one or two basal spines (Smirnov, 1996; Tiang-nga, 2019).
