Body shape is triangular-ovoid, trapezium-ovoid or semi-ovoid, relatively high body in the posterior part of the body, the maximum width of the body is in the mid-dorsal or dorsal portion of the valves. The eye is large and ocellus is present near the base of antennule. Antennule is 2-segments, a unique trait with a shorter proximal segment. In all ilyocryptids, the antennule is long in comparison with anomopod standards. Antenna is 2-branches with exopod of 4-segments and endopod of 3-segments. Swimming setae formula 0-0-0-3/1-1-3. Six pairs of thoracic limbs. Postabdomen is large and wide, dorsal margin arched and broadly round, a row of large lateral setae. Postabdominal claw is long (Kotov and Štifter, 2006; Tiang-nga, 2019).
