Macrothricids mostly live in the littoral zone, benthos, associated plants, some are littoral planktonic in fresh and brackish water. Body sub-oval. Rostrum usually reduced. Antennule is moderate in size, rod-like, attached to the anterior lower side of the head. The antenna has 2 branches, antennal endopod of 3 segments, with 5 setae and antennal exopod of 4 segments, with 3–4 setae. An eye and an ocellus present. Five pairs of thoracic limbs, limb V strongly reduced in genus Guernella. Postabdomen of various form, widely semicircular. Denticle of the dorsal part of postabdomen is short and postabdominal claw short (Smirnov, 1992; Tiang-nga, 2019).
